Top 5 Games For a Baby Shower

Have you got the task of hosting a baby shower? Perhaps you've sorted out the venue, food, cake & guests without a problem but are now wondering whether you should be organising some games for the party? Look no further, as we give you the best baby shower game ideas around.

1. Stick the Nappy Pin on the Baby

A twist on the original children's party game of 'pin the tail on the donkey'. Guests are blindfolded and turned around on the spot to disorientate them then given a sticker in the shape of a nappy pin to place on a poster with a baby design in the place where they think it should go. Brings back fun childhood memories and guaranteed to elicit laughter when guests see just where they have placed the nappy pins!

2. Baby Shower Bingo

Using blank grids on individual pieces of paper or card, ask guests to fill in a set amount of baby related items or gifts that they think the mum-to-be might receive at her baby shower. Around 10-15 guesses should be sufficient. Ask the guests to write each of their guesses into the grid with one guess per grid square using random squares. When mum-to-be opens her gifts the guests tick off their correct guesses until the first guest ticks off one line in a row!

3. Baby Birth Sweepstake

A gentle gamble! Get guests to write down their guesses for the gender of the baby, date & time of birth & the weight. Have a little prize to send to the winner once the baby is born! Alternatively guests could contribute a £1 for their entry which can go into the nappy fund! Make the guesses into a lovely keepsake for mum by writing them on lovely cards or in a personalised baby shower guest book.

4. Baby Taboo

Great as a team game where guests might be a little shy. This one also brings out the competitive streak! Think of some baby related items and write each one at the top of a playing card sized card. Then think of 3 other words you might use as an alternative word or word you might use to describe the item. Write these down underneath the main word. These are the 'taboo' words. Split the guests into two teams and each team will take it in turn to try and guess the word on the card. One guest on the team will have a minute to try and describe the main word without saying any of the 'taboo' words and the rest of her team have to guess what the word is. Correctly guessing the word will give that team a point, however, saying a 'taboo' word will give the point to the other team.

5. Pieces of Advice

Not so much a game, more of an activity, but one which makes a lovely keepsake for mum-to-be. Have each guest write down one nugget of advice for the new mum about her pregnancy, birth or coping with bringing up baby. Write them on lovely card or in a guest book or perhaps on little postcards which can be stored within a photo album alongside pictures of the baby shower party.

Depending on the timescales for the party & number of guests you could use just one or all of these wonderful baby shower game ideas!
